Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about the Future Beacon Scholarship, from eligibility to what happens after you're selected.
The scholarship is for driven, academically promising students enrolled in or accepted to an accredited college or university who lack the financial means to pay tuition, hostel, or essential academic expenses. Both undergraduate and graduate scholars are eligible.
Applicants must provide academic transcripts (Matric, FSc, or recent semester GPA sheets), proof of university admission/enrollment, current utility bills for household verification, and a brief statement of financial need.
Every applicant undergoes a multi-stage verification: initial desk evaluation of documents, a structured panel interview, and an in-person physical home visit conducted by our dedicated ground team to verify financial circumstances and ensure complete transparency.
We fund comprehensive academic costs based on approved individual need: semester university tuition fees, on-campus or verified hostel accommodation, mess charges, essential textbooks, and local transport.
At the end of every semester, students submit their official university grade reports. Continued funding is confirmed as long as the student maintains satisfactory academic standing and fulfills scholarship commitments.
We believe in supporting students through challenges, not abandoning them. If academic performance dips, our committee conducts a structured review:
• First-time or minor dip: A supportive formal warning with 1-semester probation and dedicated tutoring.
• Faculty or systemic issues: No penalty if external disruption or grading errors are identified.
• Chronic non-compliance: Funding is adjusted or placed on conditional review.
Yes. For confirmed scholars who secure internships during spring or summer terms, Future Beacon Foundation provides additional funding covering living, housing, and transportation expenses so financial hurdles never stop a student from gaining vital industry experience.
No. Future Beacon Foundation awards are 100% non-repayable grants funded through donor contributions and Sadaqah Jariyah. We only ask that when our graduates succeed in their careers, they pay it forward by uplifting future scholars in their communities.
